Boscobel,
Wisconsin is the birthplace of the Gideon Bible and is nestled in scenic
northern Grant County beside the lower Wisconsin River. The name
Boscobel dates back to the mid 1850's when the Milwaukee and Mississippi
Railroad established a station here. An official of the railroad,
impressed by the panoramic beauty of the area, dubbed the new depot
"Bosque Belle" - French for "beautiful wood".
The School District of
Boscobel Area Schools includes the City
of Boscobel (2006 Population 3,260), the Village of Woodman,
portions of townships in Grant County (Boscobel, Castle Rock, Hickory Grove,
Marion, Mt Hope, Watterstown, and Woodman), portions of townships in Crawford
County (Clayton, Haney, Marietta, and Scott), and a portion of Richwood
township in Richland County. The District encompasses 185 square miles.
The student population
(approximately 925) is representative of the socio-economic, racial, and
cultural diversity of this area.
